Although the New York Yankees have had many great seasons, they have not always been successful on Opening Day. In fact, they have only won about half of their Opening Day games throughout their history. Despite this, the Yankees are still one of the most popular teams in baseball.

Yankees Opening Day has been a tradition dating back to 1903, when the team played their first game against the Boston Red Sox. The Yankees have since played in a total of 44 Opening Day games, winning 27 of them. The most recent Opening Day game was played on April 6, 2019, when the Yankees defeated the Baltimore Orioles 7-2. Opening Day 2021 will be played on April 1st against the Detroit Tigers.

Yankee Opening Day is one of the most storied traditions in all of professional sports. From the first game in 1876 to the present day, fans have flocked to Yankee Stadium to see their team take the field on Opening Day.

Over the years, many traditions have sprung up around Opening Day at Yankee Stadium. Yankees Opening Day 2021

Yankees Opening Day is just around the corner, and we could not be more excited! The Yankees are set to take on the Baltimore Orioles on April 1st, 2021. This will be the first time the Yankees have opened the season at home since 2019.

Schedule

The New York Yankees will open the 2021 season on April 1 on the road against the Baltimore Orioles, according to the schedule released Wednesday by Major League Baseball.

The Yankees will have their home opener on April 6 against the Toronto Blue Jays.

Other highlights of the schedule include:

-A four-game series against the Mets at Citi Field from April 7-10.
-A three-game series against the Red Sox at Fenway Park from April 28-30.
-A four-game series against the Astros at Minute Maid Park from May 18-21.

Roster

The Yankees will have a few new names on their roster for the 2021 season as they look to return to the playoffs after missing out in 2020. One of the most notable additions is pitcher Corey Kluber, who was signed as a free agent in the offseason. The two-time AL Cy Young Award winner is expected to be a key cog in the Yankees’ rotation, which also includes Luis Severino, Masahiro Tanaka, and James Paxton.

In addition to Kluber, the Yankees also added veteran pitcher Jake Odorizzi and infielder DJ LeMahieu, who both signed as free agents. LeMahieu won a Gold Glove and Silver Slugger award with the Colorado Rockies in 2019 and should provide some much-needed depth at second base. The Yankees also have some young players who will be looking to make an impact in 2021, including Clint Frazier and Miguel Andujar.
