Susan Walden’s Early Life
Susan Walden was born on October 1st, 1965, in Queens, New York. Her parents, both of whom were immigrants from Jamaica, worked long hours to provide for their family. As a result, Susan spent a lot of time with her grandparents, who instilled in her a strong work ethic.

Walden graduated from Harvard Medical School in 1984. She completed her residency in orthopedic surgery at the Hospital for Joint Diseases Orthopedic Institute in New York City. Walden then went on to complete a fellowship in sports medicine at the Kerlan-Jobe Orthopaedic Clinic in Los Angeles.
In addition to her work with the Yankees, Walden has also served as a team physician for USA Boxing, the US Track and Field Team, and the US Taekwondo Team. She has also been a medical consultant for the New York City Marathon and the US Olympic Committee.
