The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City, the other being the National League’s (NL) New York Mets.

The Yankees on Television

The Yankees play the majority of their games on the YES Network. Some games are televised on the FOX network as part of the FOX Saturday Baseball Game of the Week. National games are televised on ESPN, TBS, and MLB Network.

The YES Network

The YES Network is an American cable and satellite television regional sports network owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, which also owns the New York Yankees baseball team. The network debuted on March 19, 2002. It is available on cable providers throughout the Northeast, as well as nationally via DirecTV and Dish Network in both standard and high definition.


WPIX, channel 11, is a television station located in New York City. The station is owned by the Tribune Company, and its call letters stand for “PIctures.” WPIX is also one of the original television stations in the United States, having been founded in 1948. The station has been the home of the Yankees since it first aired games in 1962.

The Yankees on Radio

The Yankees radio network is one of the largest in baseball, comprising 38 radio stations across seven states. The network’s flagship station is WFAN in New York City, which serves the greater New York metropolitan area. The Yankees’ radio announcers are John Sterling and Suzyn Waldman.


WFAN (660 AM), also known as Sports Radio 66 and 101.9 FM or simply The FAN, is a radio station located in New York City. The station broadcasts on a clear channel and is owned and operated by Entercom. WFAN’s studios are in the high-rise offices of WSFS Bank in the Tri-State Realty Building in midtown Manhattan, and its transmitter is based on High Island in the Bronx.


WCBS (880 AM), is a radio station licensed to New York City and is owned and operated by Entercom. WCBS’s studios are in the combined Entercom facility in the Hudson Square neighborhood of Manhattan and its transmitter site is on High Island in the Bronx.
