The Yankees scored two runs in the first inning, but the Red Sox came back to win the game 3-2. The deciding run came in the bottom of the ninth inning, when Red Sox catcher Jarrod Saltalamacchia hit a walk-off home run.

It was a nip and tuck game early on, but the Yankees took the lead in the bottom of the fourth inning. The Red Sox responded with three runs in the top of the fifth to take the lead. From there, it was all Boston as they held on to win 6-3.
