The American League

The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City, that competes in Major League Baseball (MLB). They play in the American League’s East Division. The Yankees are one of two MLB clubs based in New York City; the other club is the National League’s New York Mets.

The American League East

The American League East is one of Major League Baseball’s two divisions. The other is the National League East. The AL East consists of the following teams: Baltimore Orioles, Boston Red Sox, New York Yankees, Tampa Bay Rays, and Toronto Blue Jays. These teams are all located in the eastern United States and Canada.

The American League West

The American League West is one of two divisions in Major League Baseball’s American League. The division consists of five teams, located in the western United States and Canada. It is also perhaps nicknamed the “wild, wild, west” division because all five teams have won the World Series title since its inception in 1969. The current division champion is the Houston Astros.

The American League Central

The American League Central is one of six divisions in Major League Baseball. The Chicago White Sox, Cleveland Indians, Detroit Tigers, Kansas City Royals and Minnesota Twins are all members of the AL Central.

The division was formed in 1994 when MLB realigned its two leagues into three divisions each. The AL Central is currently the only division in MLB where all of its team have won a World Series championship.

The White Sox won the first ever AL Central title in 1994 and have gone on to win the division six times overall. The Indians are second with five division titles, while the Twins have won four times. The Tigers and Royals have both won the division three times.

The National League

The Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City, the other being the National League’s (NL) New York Mets.

The National League West

The National League West is a division of the National League in Major League Baseball. The division was created for the 1969 season when the San Diego Padres and the Montreal Expos were added as expansion teams. It is currently composed of five teams, but will be reduced to four teams when the Houston Astros move to the American League West in 2013.

The National League Central

The National League Central is one of six divisions in Major League Baseball. The Chicago Cubs, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers, Pittsburgh Pirates, and St. Louis Cardinals are all members of the NL Central.
