Pregame Activities

The New York Yankees are one of the most popular baseball teams in the world. If you’re lucky enough to have tickets to a Yankees game, there are a few things you can do before the game to make sure you have a great time. Here are some tips for pregaming at a Yankees game.

Batting Practice

Batting practice (colloquially known as ” batting cages “) is a practice in which batters hit balls thrown by a coach. Batting practice can be skill-development drills, designed to hone individual offensive skills such as hitting to all fields, hitting with power, and exacting strike-zone control. It can also be used as a warm-up or cool-down (particularly in cold weather) for actual game play.

Infield/Outfield Practice

Before every game, the team has infield/outfield practice. This is when the players warm up and practice their fielding. Pitchers throw to catchers and batters hit balls all around the field. You can see this happening when you tune into the game about an hour and a half before first pitch.

Pregame Warmups

Before every game, the Yankees have a set pregame routine that includes several warmup activities. These activities help the players loosen up their muscles and prepare for the game ahead.

First, the team stretches together in the outfield. Then, they each take turns hitting off a tee in the batting cage. After that, they play catch with each other in pairs. Finally, they do some light running on the field to get their blood flowing.

Pregame warmups are important for all athletes, not just professional ones. Stretching helps prevent injuries by relaxing tight muscles and improving flexibility. Hitting off a tee helps improve hand-eye coordination and strengthens your batting muscles. Playing catch helps build teamwork and communication skills. And light running helps improve your heart health and stamina.

The National Anthem

The National Anthem will be performed by Leslie Odom, Jr.
