They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City, the other being the New York Mets of the National League. The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles. In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the club the New York Highlanders.

The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the club the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed as the Yankees in 1913.

The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, an LLC controlled by the family of George Steinbrenner, who purchased the team in 1973. Brian Cashman is the team’s general manager, and Aaron Boone is the team’s manager. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. In 1974 and 1975, their home games were played at Shea Stadium, located in Flushing, Queens. From 2009 to 2012, their home games were played at Yankee Stadium II in relief of Hurricane-damaged Yankee Stadium during its renovation; following that season there was a Mark Teixeira–led home run campaign which pushed for renovations including adding more than 10 rows of Home Run Derby-style seating sections beyond original left field fence; renovations completed late 2015 include slab Removal of significantly lowering foul ball injury rate for fans but also contributed to lowered field dimensions report power alleys measuring 320 feet (98 m) rather than 375 feet (114 m).

You can purchase tickets online at Yankees.com, by phone at 1-877-4 Yankees, or at the Yankee Stadium ticket office. The ticket office is located at Gate 4, and is open Monday – Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. When purchasing tickets online or by phone, you will be given the option to print your tickets at home or have them mailed to you.

It’s game day! The New York Yankees are taking on the Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium. The game is set to start at 7:05 PM ET. Make sure you’re tuned in to catch all the action!

Arrive at the stadium

If you’re driving to the game, allow yourself plenty of time to find parking and walk to the stadium. stadium gates open 1.5 hours before game time, so you’ll have plenty of time to find your seats and explore the stadium. If you’re taking public transportation, check schedules in advance and give yourself additional time for delays.
