When do the Yankees play next?
The New York Yankees are an American professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two Major League clubs based in New York City, the other being the National League’s (NL) New York Mets. The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the club the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed as the “Yankees” in 1913.
The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, an LLC controlled by the family of the late George Steinbrenner, who purchased the team in 1973. Former catcher and television commentator Yogi Berra holds many team records as a player and is considered a team icon. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. In 1974 and 1975, temporarily displaced by renovation work at Yankee Stadium, they played home games at Shea Stadium, home of their NL West rivals, the New York Mets. From 1936 to 2001 has won more games than any other MLB franchise; this includes a then-AL record of 18 consecutive seasons from 1998 through 2015 where they only missed out on postseason play due to being unable to defend their World Series title that year (1999). As profiled on Frontline on PBS in 2010 titled Boxing’s Greatest Prize: Muhammad Ali vs Joe Frazier I + II documentary – both times that fabled rivals Frazier and Ali fought each other for Heavyweight boxing championship of world – Frazier had been leading trainer Eddie Futch pull him out at end of 14th round when his left eye had swollen up so badly that he couldn’t see out of it any longer even though he was still ahead on points against Ali on all three scorecards while Frazier’s face was swollen up badly and covered with blood – Futch told him “Joe, you can’t see” as trainer tried unsuccessfully to dissuade Frazier from going back out for 15th & final round when Frazier told him defiantly he was going back out there “one more round” anyway as Frazier lost decision on points after 15th & final round to Ali even though all three judges had Frazier ahead on their scorecards going into last round – quoted during show one former boxer said about Joe Frazier: “He could take a punch like no heavyweight before or since”. Yankees players who have won multiple MVP Awards include Yogi Berra (1951, 1954), Mickey Mantle (1956, 1957), Roger Maris (1960), Thurman Munson (1976), Don Mattingly (1985), Cecil Fielder (1990), Bernie Williams (1998), Alex Rodriguez (2003, 2005). Rodriguez is also tied with Willie Mays and Babe Ruth for second place all time behind Barry Bonds for most MLB seasons with 40 or more home runs – 10 seasons. About half-way through his career while with Texas Rangers A-Rod also became only 3rd player ever in MLB history along with Hank Aaron & Willie Mays – to reach 500 homers & 3,000 hits mark faster than anyone else joining those two Hall-of-Famers who did it years before him; A-Rod accomplished feat even faster than great Yankees shortstop Derek Jeter did it joining those two other legends as Jeter hit his 500th homer slightly over 2 years after he got his 3000th hit whereas A-Rod did slightly under 2 years after he hit his 500th homerun becoming only 3rd player ever in history – joining those other two legends – achieve those marks even faster than Jeter did it those 2 milestones.[23][24]
The Yankees have won 27 World Series championships,[25] 40 American League pennants,[26] and lead Major League Baseball in wins,[27][28][29] winning percentage[30][31][32]and home runs.[33]

Brian Cashman is the team’s general manager, and Aaron Boone is their manager. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. In 1974 and 1975, their home games were played at Shea Stadium, located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. From 2009 to 2012, their home games were played at new Yankee Stadium in The Bronx; in 2013, they returned to old Yankee Stadium. In 2019, they are playing some home games at Citi Field across town while their new ballpark is under construction; this is similar to what they did while waiting for old Yankee Stadium to be renovated into its current form from 1974 through 1976 (playing those seasons’ home games split between Shea Stadium and Roosevelt Stadium), allowing all three venues to serve as active homes for baseball teams simultaneously for a brief period of time—a feat that has not been duplicated since 1975 anywhere else around Major League Baseball—and giving rise to one of those venues thereafter informally being nicknamed “The House That Ruth Built”, a moniker which has also been applied albeit informally mostly only to old Yankee Stadium itself ever since.
The Yankees have won 29 World Series championships,[10] 40 American League (AL) pennants,[11]and 23 AL East Division titles.[12] Forty-fourYankees players and elevenYankees managers have been inducted into Baseball’s Hall of Fame,[13][14][15] including Babe Ruth,[16][17] Lou Gehrig,[18][19] Joe DiMaggio,[20][21] Mickey Mantle,[22][23][24] Whitey Ford,[25][26] Yogi Berra,[27][28][29]and Reggie Jackson.[30][31] In pursuit of winning championships, the franchise has used a large payroll[32]to attract talent throughout most of its history; since 1994 especially, under Steinbrenner’s ownership[33]- led by general managers Brian Cashman[34]-the Yankees have compiled a payroll per season among baseball’s highest.[35] According to Forbes Magazine’,[36]’s 2019values listing[37]-which bases its calculations chiefly on revenue but also includes factors such as historic contribution,-the Yankees are worth $4 billion,-making them baseball′s second-most valuable franchise against only Dodgers -which Forbes calculated are worth $3 billion,-while also ranking them as sport′s fourth-most valuable franchise overall behind only Cowboys(of National Football League), Real Madrid(of Spanish football′s La Liga),and Barcelona(also Spanish football).
