History
The New York Yankees are an American professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City, the other being the National League’s (NL) New York Mets. The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the team the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed the Yankees in 1913.
The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, an LLC controlled by the family of the late George Steinbrenner, who purchased the team in 1973. Brian Cashman is the team’s general manager, and Aaron Boone is the team’s field manager. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. In 1974 and 1975, their home games were played at Shea Stadium, located in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park, Queens. From 2009 to 2012, their home games were played at Citi Field in Flushing Meadows–Corona Park before moving back to Yankee Stadium in 2013. The Yankees have won 27 World Series championships (including their first two as a baseball club), 40 American League pennants (including their first 13 as a franchise), and 30 AL East division titles.—the last of which came in 2019—surpassing every other MLB franchise.—the latter most recently accomplished during their historic 1998–2000 three-peat win seasons fdsafsafsad

Rivalries
The New York Yankees and Houston Astros have been bitter rivals since the early days of baseball. The two teams have met in the World Series five times, with the Yankees winning four of those series. The most recent meeting was in 2017, when the Astros won their first ever World Series championship.
The two teams play each other regularly during the regular season, and those games are always highly anticipated. The Yankees and Astros will meet again in 2020 for a three-game series in Houston from August 31st to September 2nd.
