The Yankees will be playing the Rangers in a three game series at home from April 5-7 and again on the road from May 17-19.

The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the team the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed the Yankees in 1913.
The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, an LLC controlled by the family of majority owner Hal Steinbrenner, who inherited control of the team from his late father George Steinbrenner III in 2010. Brian Cashman is the team’s general manager, and Aaron Boone is the team’s field manager. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. The Yankees have a record of 103-59, which is the best in the American League. They are also the reigning World Series champions.

Record
The New York Yankees have a long-standing rivalry with the Texas Rangers, dating back to when the Rangers were still the Washington Senators. The two teams have faced each other in the playoffs five times, with the Yankees winning three of those series.
The most recent meeting was in 2010, when the Rangers beat the Yankees in six games to win their first American League pennant. The Yankees got their revenge in 2011, however, defeating the Rangers in six games to win the AL pennant and go on to win the World Series.
So far this season, the Yankees have a slight edge over the Rangers, winning four out of seven games. The two teams will face each other again in late August for a three-game series.
