The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. The team has won 27 World Series championships (which is more than any other professional sports franchise worldwide), 40 American League pennants (the most in AL history) and leads AL East with a .575 winning percentage (as of 2019).
