Who’s Pitching
The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York City. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City, the other being the National League’s (NL) New York Mets. The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the present Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the club the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed as the New York Yankees in 1913.
The team is owned by Yankee Global Enterprises, an LLC controlled by the family of majority owner and managing partner Hal Steinbrenner, who purchased the team from former majority owner George Steinbrenner in 2010. Brian Cashman is the team’s general manager, and Aaron Boone is their manager. The team’s home games were played at Yankee Stadium from 1923 to 1973 and from 1976 to 2008. In 2009, they moved into a new ballpark of the same name that was constructed adjacent to the previous facility, which was closed and demolished following the 2008 baseball season. The team is perennially among the leaders in MLB attendance; they sold out every home game from May 15, 2003—their 55th straight sellout at then-new Yankee Stadium—until October 18, 2012 when attendance restrictions were lifted during their rebuild process following Hurricane Sandy; this included more than three consecutive seasons with over 4 million fans attending games on a regular basis: 4 million fans attending 2010 season games for 27 consecutive dates between June 3–July 18; over 4 million fans attended all 81 home games during 2011; and 4 million fans attending again in 2012 on an Opening Day record of 52,325.[1][2] Since 2015, Forbes ranked them as #1 among MLB franchise values with a value of $4 billion.[3]

Injury updates are always important for Yankees fans, as they provide guidance on who is likely to be playing and who may be out for an extended period of time. The team’s website provides regular updates on player injuries, as well as rehab progressions and expected return dates.
Roster Moves
The Yankees have announced a series of roster moves ahead of today’s game against the Rays.
Outfielder Aaron Hicks has been placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right oblique strain. Infielder/outfielder Tyler Wade has been recalled from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.

Trade Rumors
Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner is one of the team’s most consistent players, and his name has come up in trade rumors this offseason. The 36-year-old is entering the final year of his contract, and with the Yankees looking to get younger and more athletic, it’s possible they could move him.
Gardner is coming off a season in which he hit .251/.325/.503 with 28 home runs, 74 RBI and 16 stolen bases. He’s a career .261/.346/.430 hitter with 153 home runs, 574 RBI and 147 stolen bases. He’s also a two-time All-Star (2016, 2018) and a Gold Glove winner (2016).
The Yankees have been linked to Minnesota Twins outfielder Eddie Rosario in trade rumors, and he would be a good replacement for Gardner if they do move him. Rosario is 27 years old and he’s under team control through 2021. He’s coming off a season in which he hit .276/.300/.475 with 32 home runs, 109 RBI and nine stolen bases.
