History

George M. Steinbrenner Field (previously known as Legends Field) is the spring training home of the New York Yankees. The facility is located in Tampa, Florida, and hosts both Major and minor league baseball teams during spring training.

The stadium was originally built in 1996 at a cost of $30 million and was designed to resemble the classic ballparks of baseball’s past. The facility underwent a $40 million renovation prior to the 2012 season that expanded its capacity to 11,026 and added new luxury suites and a museum dedicated to the history of the Yankees.

George M. Steinbrenner Field has hosted five World Baseball Classic games, four exhibition games between Major League Baseball teams, and numerous other special events since its opening.
