The Yankees are a team with a long and storied history. They first played in 1921, and they’ve been one of the most successful teams in baseball ever since. Today, we’re going to take a look at their first home: the Polo Grounds.

The Yankees are a Major League Baseball team that plays in the American League East division. The team is based in the borough of Bronx, in New York City, and their home ballpark is Yankee Stadium. The Yankees are one of the most successful professional sports teams in history, having won 27 World Series championships, more than any other MLB team.
The team’s home field
The New York Yankees are a professional baseball team based in the Bronx, New York. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. They are one of two major league clubs based in New York City; the other is the National League’s (NL) Mets. The Yankees began play in the 1901 season as the Baltimore Orioles (no relation to the modern Baltimore Orioles). In 1903, Frank Farrell and Bill Devery purchased the franchise after it ceased operations and moved it to New York City, renaming the team the New York Highlanders. The Highlanders were officially renamed as the “Yankees” in 1913.

The Yankees first game was on Tuesday, April 18th,1921, against the Boston Red Sox at the Polo Grounds. The game started at 3:00 PM, and the Yankees won by a score of 7-6. Babe Ruth hit the first home run in Yankee Stadium history in the bottom of the fourth inning.

The Yankees first played in the Polo Grounds. The Polo Grounds was also home to the New York Giants baseball team. The stadium could hold 55,000 people. The dimensions of the outfield were 402 feet (122 m) to left field, 490 feet (149 m) to center field, and 420 feet (130 m) to right field.

The Yankee Stadium’s capacity was 60,000 when it first opened in 1923. That was increased to 74,228 by 1927. The upper decks were added in 1937, increasing the capacity to 83,000. It was again increased in 1976 to its current capacity of 52,325.
The stadium’s dimensions
The original Yankee Stadium was a baseball park located at East 161st Street and River Avenue in the Bronx, New York City. It served as the home ballpark of the New York Yankees of Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1923 to 1973, and then again from 1976 to 2008. The stadium hosted 6,581 Yankees regular season home games during its 85-year history. It was also the former home of the New York Giants football team from 1956 through the first part of the 1973–74 NFL season. The stadium’s nickname, “The House That Ruth Built”, is derived from Babe Ruth, the baseball superstar whose PrimeYears coincided with the stadium’s opening and the beginning of Yankees dynastic success.
