Whether you’re a Yankees fan who lives in New York or you’re just visiting the area, there are plenty of ways to catch your favorite team during spring training. Here’s a guide to help you find the perfect spot to watch the Yankees play ball.
One of the great things about spring training is that it’s relatively easy to get tickets to games. You can often find them for face value or even less on sites like StubHub or SeatGeek. And if you’re looking to save even more money, there are a few ways to do that, too. One is to go to a game early in spring training, before the team’s regular season starts. Games in late February and early March tend to have lower attendance, so you can usually get cheaper tickets. Another way to save money is to go to a game that’s not played at one of the Yankeess’ regular home stadiums. The team shares its spring training complex with other teams in Florida, so they play some of their games at those teams’ stadiums. These games usually have lower attendance as well, so you can snag some bargains there as well.
Of course, the cheapest way to see the Yankees play during spring training is simply to watch them on TV. All of their games are broadcast on either YES Network or WPIX, and most of them are also simulcast on MLB Network.
George M. Steinbrenner Field
George M. Steinbrenner Field is the home of the New York Yankees and the site of their spring training games. The ballpark is located in Tampa, Florida, and has a capacity of 10,200 people. The facility opened in 1996 and is named after former Yankees owner George Steinbrenner.
Ed Smith Stadium
Situated in the heart of Florida’s Gulf Coast, Ed Smith Stadium is the perfect place to catch a Yankees Spring Training game. The stadium offers breathtaking views of Sarasota Bay, and is just a short drive from some of the area’s best beaches. Ed Smith Stadium is also home to a variety of other events throughout the year, including music concerts and festivals.
Bright House Field
Bright House Field is located in Clearwater, Florida, and is the spring training home of the New York Yankees. The stadium seats 10,000 fans and features a Grass Berm seating area in left field. Fans can also enjoy the Tiki Terrace deck, which offers views of the field and skyline.
JetBlue Park is the spring training home of the Boston Red Sox. The facility, located in Fort Myers, Florida, opened in JetBlue Park holds 11,026 fans.
After a long and grueling regular season, baseball fans rejoice in the return of spring training. Grapefruit and Cactus league play begins in February, giving fans a chance to watch their favorite teams tune up for the upcoming season.
If you’re a Yankees fan, there are plenty of options for you to catch them in action this spring. Their home games will be split between George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida and Ed Smith Stadium in Sarasota, Florida.
On the road, the Yankees will play teams from both leagues. In the Grapefruit League, they will face off against the Philadelphia Phillies, Pittsburgh Pirates, Toronto Blue Jays, Detroit Tigers, and Houston Astros. In the Cactus League, they will take on the San Francisco Giants, Oakland Athletics, Los Angeles Dodgers, Chicago Cubs, and Cincinnati Reds.
So whether you’re in Florida or Arizona this spring, make sure to catch at least one Yankees game!
