John Sterling is an American sportscaster. He is the radio play-by-play announcer for the New York Yankees, a position he has held since 1989. Sterling calls games on WFAN in New York City and the Yankees Radio Network. He is known for his home run calls, which include using various nicknames for Yankee players as well as catchphrases such as “(player name) is going, going, gone!”, “the mighty (player name)” and “(player name) with another dinger!”.

John Sterling is an American sportscaster. He is best known as the radio play-by-play announcer for Major League Baseball’s New York Yankees, a position he has held since 1989.
Sterling began his broadcasting career in 1972 as the radio voice of the Charlotte Hornets of the old American Basketball Association. He later worked as a sports director and news director at various television and radio stations in Connecticut and Florida. He served as a sportscaster for WFAN in New York from 1983 to 1989, before being hired by the Yankees.
Sterling is well known for his home run calls, which often include player nicknames and exclamations such as “Thuuuu Yankees win!” or “The Baby Bombers have done it again!” He has been criticized for being a “homer”, or excessively biased in favor of the Yankees, but he has also been praised for his passion and enthusiasm for the team.
Suzyn Waldman
Suzyn Waldman is best known as the long-time radio voice of the New York Yankees. She is currently in her 29th season as the team’s primary radio announcer, and also serves as a color commentator on select Yankee broadcasts on the YES Network. Prior to joining the Yankees, Waldman spent 15 years as a sports reporter and commentator for various radio and television stations in the New York area.

Suzyn Waldman (born October 28, 1946) is an American sportscaster. She is currently the radio color commentator for the New York Yankees on WFAN, and has served in that role since 2005. Waldman is also a television commentator, having worked on Yankees telecasts on the MSG Network from 1999 to 2002. She became the first woman to call play-by-play of a Major League Baseball game on radio when she filled in for John Sterling on WCBS in 1999.
Waldman was born in Boston, Massachusetts and grew up in Brookline, Massachusetts. She attended Simmons College, where she played softball and basketball. Waldman began her broadcasting career while still a student at Simmons, working as a stringer for The Boston Globe. After graduating in 1968, she worked as a publicist for the Pittsburgh Pirates baseball team. In 1971, she became an assistant sports director at WBZ-TV in Boston, one of the first women to hold such a position at a major market television station.

Waldman began her career as a publicist for Major League Baseball’s Boston Red Sox. In 2005, she became the first woman to call play-by-play for a men’s professional sporting event on television, when she did so for one inning of a Yankees game.
Waldman has won three Emmy Awards, and in 2010, she was inducted into the Broadcasters Wing of the National Baseball Hall of Fame.
