Joe Girardi’s History with the Yankees
Joe Girardi has been the Yankees’ manager since 2008, winning a World Series in 2009. He is also a former Yankee player, debuting in 1989. He was part of the Yankees’ 1996 World Series team. Girardi played for the Chicago Cubs, St. Louis Cardinals, Colorado Rockies, and Baltimore Orioles before retiring in 2003.
Girardi has also managed the Florida Marlins (2006) and the Colorado Rockies (2002-2005).

The New York Yankees are coached by Aaron Boone. He has been with the team since 2018 and has led them to a World Series win. He is a former player and has also coached the Cincinnati Reds.

In 2003, Boone hit one of the most memorable home runs in Yankees history. In Game 7 of the ALCS, Boone faced off against Red Sox pitcher Tim Wakefield, and hit a walk-off homerun in the bottom of the 11th inning, sending the Yankees to the World Series.
Boone’s home run was so memorable that it has been dubbed “The Aaron Boone Home Run” and is considered one of the most iconic moments in Yankees history.
After his playing career ended, Boone became a coach and television analyst. In 2017, he was hired as the manager of the Yankees, replacing Joe Girardi.
Under Boone’s leadership, the Yankees have enjoyed great success, reaching the playoffs in each of his first three seasons at the helm.

In Aaron Boone’s first season as manager, the Yankees won 103 games, tying for the best record in the American League. They went on to win the AL pennant and advanced to the World Series, where they lost to the Houston Astros in seven games.
Boone’s second season was even more successful than his first. The Yankees won a franchise-record 107 games, and they made it back to the World Series, this time defeating the Astros in seven games to win their 27th championship.
Under Boone, the Yankees have established themselves as one of the best teams in baseball. They’ve won at least 103 games in each of his three seasons as manager, and they’ve made it to the ALCS in all three years.
