Rob Thomson is the current batting coach for the New York Yankees. He was born in London, Ontario, Canada in 1963. Thomson started his professional baseball career as a catcher in the Toronto Blue Jays organization. He played in their minor league system from 1982-1988 before being called up to the major league team in 1989. Thomson played for the Blue Jays until 1992, when he was traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates. He finished his playing career with the Pirates in 1994.
