The Yankees bench coach is a member of the coaching staff for the New York Yankees baseball team. The bench coach works with the manager to make sure the team is prepared for each game. He also works with the players on their batting and fielding skills.
Aaron Boone
The current Yankees Bench Coach is Aaron Boone. He was hired on December 14, 2017 by the New York Yankees. Prior to joining the Yankees, Boone was an analyst and commentator for ESPN. He also played Major League Baseball for 12 seasons.
Josh Bard
Josh Bard is currently the Yankees Bench Coach. He was born on November 30, 1977, in Ithaca, New York. Bard played college baseball at Texas Tech University. He was drafted by the Colorado Rockies in the second round of the 1999 Major League Baseball Draft. Bard made his Major League debut with the Rockies in 2002. He played for the San Diego Padres from 2004-2008. Bard also played for the Washington Nationals and Cleveland Indians. He retired from playing baseball in 2011. After retirement, Bard became a coach. He was the bullpen coach for the Indians from 2013-2017. Bard has been the Yankees Bench Coach since 2018.
Tony Pena
Tony Peña is in his first season as the Yankees’ bench coach. He rejoined the Yankees after serving as the first-base coach for the Boston Red Sox from 2014-17. Prior to his time with the Red Sox, Peña spent four seasons (2010-13) as the manager of the Cleveland Indians.
