The Boston Yankees were a baseball team that played in the American League from 1903 to 1912. They were known as the New York Highlanders from 1913 to 1920, and then as the New York Yankees from 1921 to present day. The Boston Yankees won the World Series in 1903, and then again in 1904, 1906, 1907, and 1908.

The Boston Red Sox are an American professional baseball team based in Boston, Massachusetts. They compete in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a member club of the American League (AL) East division. The Red Sox are one of the two oldest continuously playing professional baseball clubs in the United States, and one of eight members of the Sports Hall of Fame.

On July 4, 1923, the Boston Yankees won a game against the Boston Red Sox with a score of 3-1. Lou Gehrig played first base and hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to give the Yankees the lead. This was Gehrig’s first Major League home run.
