He also does an excellent job of limiting walks and home runs (he has a career 1.8 BB/9 and 0.4 HR/9 rate). Schmidt projects as a mid-rotation starter and will compete for a spot in the Yankees’ rotation this spring but is likely to begin the season in Triple-A
